Abstract
A 67 year-old woman who had undergone irradiation in the pelvis from a uterine cervical carcinoma was admitted. She had received a total hip arthroplasty as a result of osteonecrosis in the acetabulum 12 years ago. The plain X-ray showed that the acetabular component was loosened, and located in the pelvic cavity without a loosening of the femoral stem. Four days after removing the femoral component, a vesico-acetabular fistula was discovered. A defect in the wall of the bladder had spontaneously healed, and the patient was observed with the advise of frequent urination(ed note: I am not sure what this means.).
